PadPak System Integrations
Project 01 / View / Download pdf
Objective: Two packers have to pack and label products, arriving from a central conveyor, at a shared pack station. There is no floor space available in the immediate vicinity of the packer.
Solution: The PadPak converter is integrated above the conveyor and produces pads that fall into a bin out of which the two packers can take pads. The filling level of the bin is being controlled by means of the EDS function of the converter. Each time the filling level of the bin is below minimum, the converter starts producing new pads. Recharging paper rolls is fast and easy by means of the paper roll carts and the splicing plate. For maintenance purposes, the converter can be turned away from the conveyor.

Objective: The converter needs to be placed over the conveyor, providing the packer with pads. No floor space available in the immediate vicinity of the packer.
Solution: The converter is placed over the conveyor, having a modified deflector in order to ‘guide’ the pads into the box. Recharging paper rolls is fast and easy by means of the paper roll cart and the splicing plate positioned at the end of the conveyor. For maintenance purposes, the converter can be slid to the conveyor’s end, and using a ladder access to the converter’s parts can therefore be gained.

Objective: The packer needs to pull the boxes from the conveyor onto the packing table. He then checks the contents of the box and adds the packaging material, after which the box needs to be weighed and labeled.
Solution: The box slides onto the first of two packing tables, which are positioned parallel to the conveyor. At this first table the contents of the box can be checked, the necessary computer system being integrated into the table. The converter is integrated underneath the table, the pads coming out centrally. After filling the box with packing material, the packer slides the box to the second table equipped with a scale and a label printer.

Objective: Integrate converters without infering in the direct working space of the packers.
Solution: Position the converters over the conveyor belt. Collect the pre-produced pads in a hopper. A photo sensor integrated in the hopper controls the minimum amount of available pads. For easy and fast paper loading the converter is equipped with gluing plate with integrated end-of-paper sensor and several 6-roller carts. For maintenance the converter can be pulled out of the frame with a fork lift truck and exchange it for an extra available converter. Goal: minimum down-time during break downs.

Objective: The to be packed products come from a central conveyor line. On both sides of the conveyor is a packing place.
Solution: Place the converter parallel to the conveyor so the 2 packers can easy reach for the pads. Paper loading is easy because of the sideways positioned brackets for the paper roll and gluing plate. Paper is guided via the gluing plate over a 90° turner bar into the converter.

Objective: Provide 2 pack stations with pads without changing the lay-out.
Solution: Placing the converter on a frame above the conveying system is a space saving solution. To supply the packers with pads 2 chutes are integrated. At the end of these chutes a small pad collector is placed. In these pad collectors photo sensors are mounted. Whenever these sensor do not detect any pads, they will give a signal to the converter ordering it to produce a pad and a signal to the control to determine via which chute the pad should go.Paper loading is easy via a gluing plate and 3-roller cart. For maintenance the converter can be moved over linear bearings.

Objective: On both sides of the conveyor coworkers check quality of products, put products in carton, fill up the cartons and label the cartons.
Solution: On two sides Pad-n-Pak workstations are integrated in workflow. Bins with products are pulled of from the conveyor. The products are scanned using the warehouse management software. To inform the express service a scale is integrated to determine the weight of the cartons. The converters are placed under the table providing the packer with pads via an opening in the table.
