The Environment

Ranpak has always focused on paper solutions, and we feel a strong sense of responsibility to protect our environment.
The environmental friendliness of packaging depends on many factors, like the presence of hazardous substances, the energy that is needed to extract, process and dispose the materials, and the emission of gasses that are released during this process.

Taking all these factors in consideration, Ranpak’s choice of a kraft paper system is an easy one. The paper is made from a natural renewable source, unbleached, biodegradable, decomposable and recyclable.

But fundamentally, Ranpak has always focused on paper, because we strongly believe that it is a superb and highly flexible packaging material that can be used in many ways. When used in the right way, paper has remarkable cushioning characteristics and is able to protect a great variety of products. In addition to cushioning, paper is a good alternative for void filling, both from a handling as from an environmental point of view.

Why is our earth in good hands when you use Ranpak paper as a packing material?

 Climate neutral
Trees have the natural characteristic to absorb CO2 in order to grow. The CO2 that is emitted during the production and processing of paper is taken up by it's natural source.




Recycling
The Recycling Rate of paper is around
60%. It is very easy to recycle paper and to make raw material out of it or other paper based products. Next to that,
the separation and collection processes of old paper are very well established, both in domestic as well as in industrial segments.


The source is renewable
Trees can be replanted and therefore
the source of paper will never run out.

No hazardous substances
Ranpak paper is a very clean material
and does not contain any threatening substances.




Disposal
Ranpak paper is mainly used together with other paper based packaging materials, like cardboard boxes.
This combination ensures an easy disposal of the complete packaging set that in turn contributes to a higher recycling rate of packaging materials.






FSC Guarantee
Ranpak only works with virgin paper suppliers that are FSC certified.
The Forest Stewardship Council ensures that the supplier manages the forests in such a way that the biodiversity, productivity and ecological processes are maintained.
